4 MyClearwater Specialty Camps/Summer Training Opportunities
Camp Awesome
Camp Awesome is a sailing program
dedicated to teaching children who
have high-functioning autism spectrum
disorder, Asperger’s syndrome or highfunctioning
special needs. Campers
ages 9-16 will work with instructors
who are U.S. Sailing-trained.
Camp Awesome was recognized as
the 2012 Outstanding Program for
Disabled Sailors at the U.S. Sailing’s
National Sailing Programs Symposium.
CCSC encourages all parents to
schedule a visit prior to their session to
ensure that Camp Awesome is a good
fit for their children. Call 517-7776 for

Golf Camp
Chi Chi Rodriguez Golf Club
3030 N. McMullen Booth Road
Half-Day Golf Camp
(ages 5 and older)
Instruction will be targeted as an
introduction to the game of golf,
and participants will be instructed
depending on their individual skill
level. Groups are formed based on age
after the full enrollment of each camp
to ensure equal students in each group.
Instruction includes grip, posture,
chipping, full swing, core values,
stance, putting, pitching, rules of golf
and course play.

Theater Camp

This summer, the Marcia P. Hoffman
School of the Arts at Ruth Eckerd
Hall will offer students of all ages and
experience levels the opportunity to
explore their talents, discover new
friends and learn from professional
arts instructors through a variety
of week-long camps and classes in
musical theatre, drama, music, dance,
on-camera acting and more. Classes
kick off this June and enrollment
is under way. Tuition assistance is
available to those who qualify. For

Summer Training
Opportunities
Junior Lifeguard Course
(ages 10-15)
Participants must be strong swimmers
to participate in this program. Youth
will swim 25 yards non-stop front
crawl, tread water for one minute
and swim underwater for 10 feet.
Upon successful completion of the
course, the participant will be certified
in American Red Cross Junior
Lifeguarding. This course satisfies
requirements to become a junior
lifeguard and to volunteer at city of
Clearwater pools.

Participants must have been a junior
lifeguard volunteer last year to take the
review course. Youth will swim 100
yards non-stop front crawl, tread water
for one minute and swim underwater
for 10 feet. Volunteer paperwork must
be completed by May 18 to lifeguard at
city of Clearwater pools.

Junior Guards Volunteer at
Clearwater Pools
Junior lifeguard volunteers need to take
the junior lifeguard course or review to
receive paperwork for being a junior
lifeguard. Paperwork must be handed
in and processed prior to volunteering
at city pools. Volunteer hours vary at
each city pool. Call the pool where
you would like to volunteer as a junior
lifeguard.
