Health Consciousness – Raise Your Awareness
Achieving our best state of wellbeing

can be challenging, and often
we don’t know where to start.
Understanding a complex health
care system, navigating medical care and learning
how you can be a wise consumer of wellness can
be overwhelming. What we often
lose sight of is the ability to be
conscious of our health: are we
empowered to understand our
bodies and our health needs, and
choose healthy alternatives when
faced with difficult decisions?
In our fast-paced society, how often are
we distracted from general attentiveness
to our health needs? Many people feel
that their health is out of their control,
and they are at a loss for how to improve the way they feel.
When looking for answers, we are blinded by a lot of “fluff”
that may not be based on science. Being bombarded with a
lot of noise leaves us feeling lost in the journey to improve
our health. How do we change that?
Take some time to pause and become attentive to the
different areas of our lives involved in well-being and
see how we can raise our consciousness level. The more
empowered you feel to make positive changes, the more
likely these changes will stick, and you will reach that level of
thriving in all aspects of life.
• Spiritual: I understand my purpose in life and where I fit.
• Intellectual: I am able to discover and learn new things,
and my mind is curious.
• Occupational: I am satisfied with my career and financial
situation, and I enjoy the work I do.
• Social: I have positive relationships with my family,
friends, colleagues, etc.
• Emotional: I enjoy life and can greet the day with joy and
awe at the good things surrounding me.
• Physical: My mind and body are in alignment, and I have
a good sense of vitality and well-being.
A higher level of health consciousness can take time,
and fortunately there are some excellent resources in our
community to support a journey to a higher awareness of
well-being.
• Clearwater parks, recreation centers and trails provide
more than just opportunities to improve your physical
health. These activities improve your physical strength
and endurance, and being outside in nature connects
you to the world around you. Visit the newly renovated
Moccasin Lake Nature Park at 2750 Park Trail Lane and
wander through the paths and trees, listening for sounds
of nature and observing wildlife.
• The Aging Well Center at 1501 N. Belcher Road offers
not only evidenced-based programming designed
to improve many aspects of your health, but it also
offers a vibrant social network to help build wonderful
relationships with like-minded people. Their various
lectures and art classes will challenge your intellectual
well-being and provide a richer enjoyment to life.
