If you did not have the pleasure of meeting this man, you truly have missed
out. For those of us lucky enough to be in his circle, we were blessed with a man
with a huge heart! He was devoted to his family and to Tybee and her people.
Jimbo had many friends who will never forget him for his epic stories, sarcastic
sense of humor and charming personality.
Jimbo was born and bred Savannah and lived on Tybee since 1996. He started
his life-long trade of welding and pipefitting in his early years and simply loved
it! He enjoyed working with his hands and truly enjoyed going to work. For over
30 years he worked for Kraton (previously known as International Paper). He
and his coworkers were all great friends and every single one of them had a
nickname. Jimbo’s was “Slim” because he was a tall drink of water. When the
man stood up, you looked up!
Married to Carole Allen for over 25 years, together they raised three beautiful
children. Jimbo survived her passing on and Life continued. In May, 2015, he
married Lisa Gail. He absolutely adored this lady and made sure she was happy.
He loved to cook and doted on Lisa with many a home cooked meal, thoughtful
gifts on every occasion and always made sure he told her every day how much
he loved her. Now boasting several grandchildren with six granddaughters and
two great grandsons, Jimbo leaves behind a legacy that his family can be proud
of.
Dearly missed by his mother, Martha Sloan, and his stepfather, Erv Sloan,
along with his many friends here on Tybee and in Savannah, Jimbo’s passing
has left a hole that cannot be filled. But we can remember our good times with
him and can catch up on the other side when it’s our time.
