Behind the Tape…
By Sgt. Richard Dascall
Hey everyone. By the time you all read this we should be
past Labor Day, and with any luck the summer will be at its
end. I promise to get back to telling stories next month, this
go around I’m just going to let everyone know about some
stuff that’s coming up this winter.
To start with, we are participating in the National Take
Back Initiative with the DEA in October. Keep an eye on our
social media pages for the exact date, and bring any unused
or expired medications you have around the house to us. All
turned in medications will be turned over to the DEA to be
destroyed. This is a great chance to clean out your medicine
cabinet and dispose of those medications safely.
Next, as I’m sure everyone is excited for, we have Pirate’s
Fest quickly approaching. This is normally the last big event
we see for the year. Expect, as always, a large crowd and
blocked roads in the festival area. Plan accordingly as the
event gets closer.
Finally, and I know I say this all the time - lock your car
doors. The winter is approaching and this is when we see an
increase in car and home break-ins. The majority of car
break-ins are on unlocked cars. If you keep a firearm in your
vehicle, I would encourage you to bring it into your home
when you’re not driving. We recently arrested two people for
a series of car break-ins where they targeted unlocked
vehicles and stole a firearm.
As always, if you need something from us, don’t hesitate
to ask. Keep an eye on our social media this winter to see
what sort of events we’ll be hosting and involved in. Come
by and see us if you happen to be at any of these events.
Have a safe month.
