YODER THE QUIET LITTLE TOWN OF YODER
When the town of Yoder was founded by Eli Yoder in
1889 it was considered to be the hub of the surrounding
Amish community. Today, Yoder is still considered to be
that. Though many businesses and homes have moved
in around Yoder, the picturesque town has stayed that
same size, and is only 15 minutes away from Hutchinson.
With the emergence of new business, Yoder has
prospered, inviting visitors to take a step back in time
and enjoy the Amish settlement. The town is a quaint
mixture of the past and present, as horse and buggies
are intermingled with cars and trucks. Several businesses
cater to the tourist trade, making it convenient to enjoy
this wonderful Amish community. You can sample the
baked goods made by local residents in the shops and
at the farmers market every Friday from 3 to 7 pm. Some
businesses have moved to Yoder to make use of the
Mennonite and Amish work ethic.
