Michelle’s unwavering commitment to the industry did not
falter. “ The motivation was my customers, my guests, my peeps that
came to stay with me year after year,” she says. “It would have been a
failure to me if I didn’t fill those obligations I had promised to people.”
Michelle now owns Absolutely Yummy Catering, a full-service catering
company that also prepares school lunches for Shining Rock Classical
Academy Charter School in Waynesville. In addition, Michelle took
over a Scottish family’s legacy as CEO and head chef of their authentic
Scottish food company, shipping and serving delicacies worldwide, all
based out of Waynesville. She is now in a position where she has control over
her businesses. She has the option to expand, or not expand, as little or as much
as she wants. “I’m quite content and quite happy where I am at this point in my
life,” Michelle says. “I feel safe where I am right now. I feel secure.”
What are Michelle’s words of wisdom to the younger generation of
women? “Do not be afraid. Take a chance,” she says. “If you’ve got an idea in
your head, go ahead and do it! You’re young enough now, if it doesn’t work, you
can have another idea. Don’t limit yourself.”
