FACES WITH INTEREST
The Art of Marc Brechwald
By Aaron R. Fodiman
Havana, a 22-by-30-
inch pencil drawing,
is a striking example
of Marc Brechwald’s
ability to capture the
essence of his subject.
Marc Brechwald was born with artistic talent. But for years, it took a back seat, as he focused on
his career and everyday living. During the coronavirus quarantine, however, he had more time
to devote to doing what he loves. He began to draw again. He initially chose people he had met
during travels throughout the world. The facial characteristics of people inspired him because
they revealed inner feelings, such as pride, vulnerability, curiosity and resilience.
