CODY WEBSTER
Rodeo Life: How did you get started in Bullghng
When did you know that you wanted to make a
professional career out of it
Cody ebster: There never was really the day that I
said, “I ought to give this a try.” From the me that I
was a baby boy, everybody in my family rodeoed. e
were always around the rodeo. At a very young age my
mom could tell that I had my eyes on rodeo clowns and
Bullghters at the rodeos. As a kid, I used to paint my
face, wear baggy clothes and run around the house like a
Bullghter. From the me I can even remember that’s all
I wanted to do and all I wanted to be. rowing up I used
to ght sheep at the rodeos – I was chasing the dream
and it was always a very serious deal to me. I wanted to
be a Bullghter and I think the good lord put me on this
Earth to do that.
RL: Who are some of the people who inuenced
your career
C: I met Frank Newsom when I was about ten or
eleven years old. He has really brought me along and
taught me everything I know about Bullghng and
about life in general. Frank Newsom denitely had a
very big impact on my career. There’s ust so many
people to give back to it is kind of hard to pinpoint
everybody, but I’ve had a lot of support growing up.
RL: What is the ulmate goal for your Bullghng career
C: I’ve prey much reached the pinnacle of the sport.
I’ve got to work ust about every maor nals’ and got to
be a part of some awesome events. My goals really don’t
change. My goal year in and year out is to take every bull
and try to get beer and to further along my career.
Every day I want to put my best foot forward and be
the best Bullghter that I can be.
RL: What was the toughest bull you’ve fought
so far in your career
C: There’s a bunch of them. It’s hard to pinpoint a
certain bull. There is a set of bulls out there that are
harder to get by but thank god there’s some mean
ones because that’s what keeps us in a ob.
RL: What inspired you to start your own brand
What can we expect to see from Cody Webster
Brands this year
C: I originally started out ust wanng to have an
online Bullghng school. I wanted to have a set up
where I can take a student’s video from anywhere
in the world into my program and break down that
enre video for them to use as a learning tool.
It wasn’t long aer that my good friend, Dale Brisby,
was chang with me about doing a couple ball
caps and t-shirts. He said, “you’ve got a sweet brand
and a cool logo, ust go with it.” I ended up taking a
leap of faith and next thing you know I’ve got lots of
support, orders rolling out and kids all over the US
that support me and what I’m doing. it ust exploded
and has been a whirlwind. It’s such a cool deal. Now
my wife and I hold bull schools over here at my ranch.
e did somewhere around thirty to thirty-ve
students last year and this year we’re looking to
double or triple that.
