This is the saddle I ride
when I am roping on
this horse. He has great
range of moon and
I have not had issues
with any soreness.
ranted, this saddle is
eeced and nished,
but when compared
to this other saddle a
person can really see
the dierence.
The second saddle has
closer to an eight-inch
gullet and very at
bar angles. When it is
heavily padded to
accommodate the
width, he has become
sore in the back
because the pressure
is poorly distributed.
There are saddle makers out there who will send kits to t your
horse when you can’t get to them to have a proper t done
(Coats is one). If you have someone local and are unsure of what
type of gullet and tree should go on your horse, spend the few
dollars and have them do a proper ng. Spending y dollars
to have a saddle ng done may save you hundreds on correcve
work to repair the damage from a poorly ed saddle. Yes,
according to Sco, you can make up some of the dierence in
padding which will work for the short-term, but even excessive
padding will not save the back of your horse from a saddle which
doesn’t t right.
