passion for marquetry
furniture, whether

top. Marquetry is a
decorative surface
technique in which
thin pieces of wood,
mother of pearl
or metal are laid
together in a pattern
and then affixed
to another sturdier
support.
There are
numerous
pieces of this style on hand at

each one spectacular in its
own right. The French were the
first to use this technique and
the Egyptians perfected it. One
may find examples of marquetry
in ancient Egypt, where ancient
tomb paintings show marquetry
furniture being made.
