I know a good thing when I taste it. I don’t know if
that is a blessing or a curse. I have had a lifelong passion
for sweets, so when I first bit in to a macaron from Le
macaron, I knew that I was hooked. These macarons are
heavenly. They are light, airy, sweet and filled, literally
with flavor, 18 varieties, to be exact.
Not surprisingly, the owners/operators of Le macaron
are from Lyon, France, known throughout the culinary
world as the,”Gastronomical Capital of France”. One
sees the obvious pride of ownership on the faces of its
purveyors, Yamina and Alexandre as they warmly greet
customers and serve these scrumptious treats from their
convenient location in the Countryside Mall,
in Clearwater.
“Macarons are made from egg whites, crushed
almonds”, say Yamina and Alexandre , adding, “they are
then filled with a creamy chocolate ganache,
buttercream or jam”. “Some of our most popular flavors
are Belgian Chocolate, Raspberry, Columbian Coffee,
Salted Caramel, Coconut and Madagascar Black
Vanilla”, they say. The 18 varieties GLUTEN FREE are
on full display and its colorful showcase of these eclectic
selections is mouthwatering. The small round cookies are
a displayed like an artist’s palette of delectables.
Le macaron not only is attracting walk in customers,
but is selling to people who are looking for something
different for their special events, i.e. Bridal Showers,
weddings, Baby showers, corporate outings, special
thank you gifts, etc.
Yamina says, “What I like the best about the business
is seeing the customers who are experiencing a macaron
for the first time”. “I can see the joy in their eyes the very
first time that they take their first bite”.
Macarons were first introduced to Parisians in 1560.
They have been growing in popularity in the U.S. over
the past several years and the trend continues upward.
Le macaron also serves authentic French Gelato
