Healing Wounds. Changing Lives.
Michael Davis put up with pain from a
partially healed wound on his heel for
many years. “I guess I just didn’t realize
the severity of it,” says Michael. But when
the wound started getting worse instead of
better during the height of the Calhoun High
School football season, Michael took action.
As the offensive coordinator and a long-time
teacher at Calhoun High School, Michael
couldn’t afford to experience any downtime.
“Working in the Calhoun football program,
I interact quite a bit with the athletic trainer
from Hamilton Sports Medicine, as well as
Dr. Frix,” says Michael. “When I shared my
concerns about my heel, Dr. Frix suggested
that I make an appointment at Hamilton
Wound and Hyperbaric Services.”
“A non-healing or chronic wound is a wound
that does not improve after four weeks or
does not heal in eight weeks,” says John
Land, IV, DPM. “Michael’s wound had
lingered for nearly eight years before coming
to Hamilton Wound and Hyperbaric Services.
He’s not alone, many wounds can be difficult
to heal and require specialized treatment.”
Michael received advanced wound care
treatment from a multi-disciplinary team at
Hamilton Wound and Hyperbaric Services,
including a skin graft substitute placed on
the wound by Dr. Land in the operating room
at Hamilton Medical Center.
“Michael followed the instructions through
each step of the treatment process,” says
Joan Hughes, department manager of
Hamilton Wound and Hyperbaric Services.
“Michael’s heel is now completely healed.”
“Everyone at Hamilton was so good to me,”
says Michael. “Knowing that I was in good
hands made the healing process easier on
me and my family.”
