“The Streak” was preserved with a
28-point second-half outburst that
propelled Jesuit to a 35-7 win. The
Tigers defeated Jefferson on the road
in the playoffs, 14-7, before falling at
St. Petersburg Lakewood and fi nishing

The Tigers fi nished 10-4 and placed
3rd at the District Tournament under head
coach Ted Beil. A nine-match winning
streak highlighted the season, during
which Jesuit won 36 games and lost 6. The
Tigers were led by Ethan Sutton ’18, who
completed the greatest bowling career in
school annals. Sutton’s 210.3 average broke
his Jesuit record from 2016 of 208.9, and
he advanced individually from the District
to State competition, rolling a 708 series
and 290 game. Sutton just missed advancing
to the Top 16 Finals at State. Other top
bowlers were Trace Nuss ’19 (192.7 avg),
Larry Lavacca ’20 (190.3), Greg Davis ’19
(183.5), Michael Quackenbush ’20
(165.6), and Robert Morrison ’19 (160.2).

BOWLING CROSS COUNTRY
The Tigers placed 2nd in the District,
6th in the Region, and 15th at State
under head coach Jim Ranieri, while
also placing 6th out of 35 schools at
the County Meet. At the District
Meet at King High, John Robbins ’18
(16:31) and Oliver Petrillo ’20
(17:33) placed 2nd and 4th, respectively,
to lead the Tigers, while Adam
Dieck ’21, Patrick Krueger ’20, Parker
Maddox ’20, and Sean Doherty ’20
all fi nished in the top 22. Robbins led
the way the Region, fi nishing 2nd in
16:40 with Petrillo in 16th (17:37).

individually in 16:07.

The Tigers captured District and Region titles and fi nished
7th at State under head coach Nico Hohman. Grayson Maddox
’19 fi red a 1-under 71 to claim the individual District
title, followed by Max White ’19 (73), Connor Murphy ’19
(75), Jimmy Paradise ’20 (77), and Alex Siffert ’19 (78). It
was Jesuit’s 12th consecutive District golf crown, and the
296 team score was Jesuit’s best at District in 17 years. At the
Region Tournament, Maddox and Murphy went 1-2, shooting
73-74, to lead Jesuit to the title. At State, White paced the
Tigers and fi nished in the top 20 individually overall.
The Tigers captured their fi rst State title in November,
earning the Class 2A championship in historic fashion
(see full story on p. 20). Under 22nd-year head coach Bill Shaffer,
Jesuit was undefeated in dual meets while winning its 21st
straight District title and 9th straight Region. At the District
Meet, Jesuit won every event, with Sam Sands ’18
and Brendan Driscoll ’19 combining to sweep all of the
freestyle races. At the Region Meet, Jesuit doubled the 2ndplace
team’s score, swept all three relays, and placed in the
top 3 in every event.
