Jason Michaels ’94 recently started his
new company, The Big League Approach

provide mentorship and hitting lessons
to baseball players. Michaels played 11
seasons in the big leagues with the Phillies,
Indians, Pirates, and Astros, from 2001-11.
1990s
Blake Casper ’91 and his partner at the
Oxford Exchange restaurant in Tampa,
Allison Casper Adams, are involved
in a project that will put an Oxford
Exchange in Baltimore.
2000s
Mike Perotti ’90 recently was
promoted to Colonel in the
Hillsborough County Sheriff ’s Offi ce.
Perotti, who had been promoted to
the rank of Major in 2010, earned both
a B.S. and J.D. from the University of
Florida.
Garrison Sanborn ’03 completed a
successful fi rst season as the Tampa
Bay Buccaneers’ long snapper after
eight seasons with the Buff alo Bills.
A former Jesuit football player and
wrestler, Sanborn returned to campus
on Jan. 10 to speak with the Jesuit
wrestling team.

named Best Financial
Advisor in the Tampa Bay
Business Journal’s 2017

the Biz” awards.
Matt Lopez ’88 is the creator and
writer of “Reunited,” which is in
development at NBC. Lopez currently
is the showrunner on “Gone,” a
procedural drama series starring Chris
Noth for NBCUniversal International
Studios, and is attached as showrunner
on “Rosarito Beach,” a comedic drama
which is in development at CBS.
Hon. Darren Farfante ’89 was invested as a judge of the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit
during a special ceremony Oct. 5 at the George Edgecomb Courthouse in downtown

Before a full courtroom of supporters, along with a packed hallway watching on TV
monitors, Farfante became the 17th Jesuit High School alumnus to become a county,
state, or federal judge, and the second youngest (Yon Alberdi ’92). School president
Fr. Richard C. Hermes, S.J. said the invocation, and the benediction was given by Fr.
Len Plazewski ’83, pastor of Christ the King. Three of the special presentations were
made by alumni classmates of Farfante’s – Gordon Hill ’89, Derek Alvarez ’89, and
Kevin McLaughlin ’89.
Dave Burton ’95 recently was included
in the Tampa Bay Business Journal’s “25
People to Watch in 2018” list. Burton’s
latest restaurant concept, the Gen-X
Tavern in downtown Tampa, is designed to
to appeal to the generation between baby
boomers and millennials, and is slated to
open in 2018.
Pat Carroll ’98 and the Carroll Organization
were listed on the “Top 50 Owner’s
Ranking” in Multi-Housing News.
T.J. Ferrante ’03 achieved The Florida
Bar board certifi cation in Health Law
Certifi cation.
Bobby Soroory ’03 was named in the
Tampa Bay Business Journal’s annual
“Up & Comers Under 40” list for 2017.
Michael Scanio Jr. ’05 recently was
promoted to Partner at Hightower,
Stratton, Novigrod & Kantor, a
Miami-based law fi rm.
John Pinckard ’94 and his production
company, Tilted Windmill Theatricals,
recently celebrated a major
landmark as their Off Broadway
comedy, “Puff s,” reached 300
performances and broke box
offi ce records at New World Stages.
In 2009, the University of Florida
named Pinckard an Outstanding
Young Alumnus, and in 2014 he was
named to UF’s Alumni Advisory
Council for the Arts.
