Right across from the main entrance to Hamilton Medical
Center, Peeples Cancer Institute is rising up. Named in
honor of local philanthropists Shelby and Willena Peeples,
this new freestanding, four-story cancer institute will house
a medical oncology practice, as well as radiation oncology,
outpatient infusion, and breast and diagnostic imaging
services.
“We believe cancer care is more than just treating the
disease, it is caring for the whole person,” says Jeff Myers,
President and CEO of Hamilton Health Care System. “Few
of us can say that we have not been touched by cancer
in some way, whether we have experienced a family
member or friend’s battle with cancer, or possibly even a
personal diagnosis. Having Peeples Cancer Institute in our
community will change cancer care for our region.”
WHY ARE WE BUILDING A CANCER CENTER?
Research shows that cancer is the leading cause of death
in our state. Most commonly diagnosed are prostate, lung,
breast, and colorectal cancers.*
“Willena and Shelby Peeples have been personally impacted
by cancer and have given from their hearts to lessen the
burden of cancer on other patients and families. Our entire
community is genuinely committed to this Institute. As Shelby
Peeples so aptly describes, ‘It’s all about the people we serve.’”
