Major gifts are crucial for the ongoing sustainability of Hamilton’s mission and have the ability to catapult healthcare
fundraising efforts toward success. Donors who contribute at this level do so with the intention of promoting community
health, encouraging discoveries, educating staff and community, and transforming patient care. In a major gifts program, giving
becomes leading, and donors can make a dening impact.
Signature donors not only contribute to change, they create it. “The term generative’ giving is a term we use to describe the
positive vision and collaboration of individuals who transform,” says Jane Snipes, Whiteld Healthcare oundation Executive
Director. With the oundation’s major gifts program, engaged donors and healthcare leaders join together to generate health
improvements for the current generation while leaving a legacy that benets future generations. “We keep a strong dialogue
with our donors because we value their input and guidance on our projects. We also want to foster an understanding of how
their gifts will be used. Their gifts are what turn inspiring plans into reality.”
The oundation offers naming opportunities to individuals, families, and businesses who wish to name a space or program at
the $30,000 level and above. Gifts can be structured to satisfy the donor’s needs.
“Peeples Cancer Institute and the Anna Shaw
Children’s Institute offer leadership and naming
opportunities,” says Robert Smalley, chair of the
Whiteld Healthcare oundation’s signature gifts
committee. “We count on our friends and families
who can make an impact to pledge their gifts in
support of these projects.”
Often the gifts that are most fullling to donors
are those that turn personal experience into
public benet. “Our donors are intuitive and we
strive to nd meaningful gifts that match our
donors’ inspiration with their impact,” says Jane.
“In turn, thanking donors becomes not just an
expression of gratitude and good manners, it
becomes the foundation of relationships. Gifts
are nite but our relationships continue, and it
is our responsibility to provide donors access to
quality analysis, information, and impact to guide
their decisions.”

“By partnering with the Whiteld Healthcare oundation, we have the opportunity to
be a part of something truly great for our community. Peeples Cancer Institute and Anna
Shaw Children’s Institute are two of the biggest things to happen in this community since
the invention of carpet. We’ve been in Dalton 53 years and watched the incredible vision,
determination, and drive of Hamilton’s leadership. We attribute so much of Hamilton’s
success to its leaders and its ne people. They continue to amaze us.”
