President’s Message
Dear Trojan Alum and Friends,
How do you think twenty years into the future? Where
do you focus your energies and goodwill after a lengthy
career? In what way can a single opportunity or event
transform a life?
In this edition of ACCESS ACM, we explore these
questions and other engaging ideas with stories as varied
as our students themselves. We profile teens who will
earn college degrees before graduating from high school,
a student interning virtually on Capitol Hill, teachers-in-training providing tutoring
lifelines, a couple paying forward their appreciation for others, and much more.
Another engaging idea is the very existence of American community colleges. The notion
that post-secondary education could be affordable and accessible for students of any age
with ambition. It’s an idea more than a century-old in the United States, but increasingly
more relevant than ever.
As we celebrate National Community College Month this April, I hope you’ll join me
in recognizing the indelible impact of “The People’s College.” You can share your own
ACC/ACM story directly with us or post on social media using #CCMonth.
