If you’re blessed with the opportunity to be somewhere, make the most
of it and utilize your resources. Surround yourself with great people as
no one can do it alone.”

What W
makes a mental health counselor?
Determination.
At her lowest point, Abisola Iguade struggled to avoid eviction and manage a myriad of bad breaks. When she finally asked for help,
Allegany College of Maryland’s Pathways for Success/TRiO program and the ACM Foundation were there. Assistance, guidance, and
a job soon followed, and Abisola was able to focus on a brighter future.
After graduating with an associate degree in Criminology from ACM in December 2017, Abisola transferred to Towson University
where she earned her BS in Sociology/Anthropology with a Criminal Justice Concentration in May 2020. She is currently taking
prerequisite courses for Towson’s Counseling Psychology graduate program. Her goal is to become a mental health counselor, open a
private practice, and start a youth mentoring group.
