WHAT IS A SENIOR MOVE
SPECIALIST?
A Senior Move Specialist is a professional
move organizer, who assists older adults and
their families with the relocation issues of
transitioning to senior living.
Many senior move specialists have diverse
backgrounds which make them uniquely qualified
to help older adults, such as social work,
health care and gerontology. Certified Senior
Move Managers have completed coursework
designed for service to older adults and have
been screened for insurance.
SENIOR MOVE SPECIALISTS CAN
HELP WITH THE FOLLOWING:
• Develop a plan for a hassle-free move.
• Arrange for shipping and/or storage
• Organize, sort and recommend items to
downsize.
• Design the space plan (measuring and
placement of furniture, etc.) for the
new home.
• Arrange to sell, donate, or dispose of
unwanted possessions through estate
sales, consignment, auctions, and
charities.
• Manage the move: interview the moving
company or provide the moving services,
schedule and supervise the move.
• Pack-up current home and unpack/set-up
new home.
• Provide and/or coordinate related services:
cleaning, waste removal, shopping, senior
escort/travel, selection of a realtor and
preparation of the home to be sold.
