Our Source
of Hope
by Linda Cubbedge
I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you
completely with joy and peace because you trust
in him. Then you will overflow with confident
hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.
Romans 15:13
At Kristi Overton Johnson Ministries, our desire is that every
Victorious Living magazine and monthly devotional distributed
and every personally written letter sent will be an inspiration and
encouragement for inmates to embrace this wonderful thing God calls hope.
We want people everywhere to overflow with confident hope through the power of God’s Spirit.
The Lord wants me to remind you of His hope today. Don’t we all need hope? According to
Romans 15:13, God is the source of our hope, and He promises to fill us with joy and peace as we
trust in Him.
A few of years ago, the Lord revealed His purpose for Victorious Living magazine and our inmate
correspondence ministry by showing us these materials are an “invasion of love.” God is invading the
hearts of inmates with His perfect, eternal, unconditional, and boundless love.
His love overwhelms people in their darkest hours and often in the darkest corners of prison. The
stories in this publication, teachings in our devotions, and encouragement in our letters reach those
who desperately need to know someone cares. God uses our publications to remind our readers that
they are not forgotten and that they are loved. We currently have 41 team members bringing God’s
message of love to inmates in 23 states.
Along with His love, God also invades hearts with His hope through this ministry. Each day, we
receive letters from inmates asking to be a part of our Victorious Living family so they can be mentored
in their faith and encouraged in the truth of God’s Word. Currently we are adding over 100 inmates
to our family each month. This growth is amazing. Many of these inmates testify that our ministry has
helped to restore their hope.
Joseph writes, “I want to encourage you and your ministry to keep pressing forward, keep believing.
You are reaching people who are lost and giving them hope. I thank God for using you mightily.”
Michael says, “I must say I am not much for magazines since most are filled with commercial
advertising, but I actually found hope in reading every article contained in Victorious Living.”
Angel was transferred to another institution recently and has been housed with young, violent gang
members where he is constantly subjected to abuse. He was very discouraged. But then he received
his August devotional and said, “Your devotion gave me a boost of hope!”
Because of Christ, we can all have hope, no matter what. I’m going to borrow some powerful words
that Kristi wrote in her September devotional. This devotion was mailed to over 1,900 inmates.
She said, “Today, God is offering you hope, victory, purpose, love, acceptance, forgiveness, and a
new start. He is offering you everything you’ve ever searched for. It is all found in Him.” I hope you
have discovered this truth for yourself. Everything you need is found in Jesus.
Will you help us invade the hearts of incarcerated men and women with the love and hope of
Jesus Christ by supporting our ministry? There are so many people who need the renewed hope a
fresh start in Christ can bring. We need your support to keep up with the growth of this ministry. And
remember, when inmates receive God’s hope, not only are their lives restored, but their families and
communities can be restored too.

Ministry Testimony: Nicole Cubbedge
I am so grateful to be part of such an amazing
ministry. It truly is an answer to prayer.
A few months ago, my family experienced a
life-changing event that required us to put all
our faith and hope in God. I’ve learned that’s the
exact place I needed to be. During that time, I felt
a call to bless and serve others in whatever way
I could, even though our family was struggling
ourselves.
Mark 10:45 reminds us that “even the Son of
Man did not come to be served, but to serve
others.”
I asked God to open a door and use me to glorify
Him. Within weeks, He gave me the opportunity
to be a part of KOJ Ministries’ prison outreach.
I knew right away that God had answered my
prayers. I now serve as the assistant to the
director of the Victorious Living Correspondence
Outreach. What a joy to minister to the hearts
of inmates and their families. I look forward to
seeing all that God has in store.
