BACK-ROAD ADVENTURES
Driving along Route 131, locally known as River
Road, is the quintessential Vermont scenic
experience. The area invites you to fish or
explore the Black River with several pull-offs
from the main road. This winding route rambles
through the town of Cavendish and its village of
Proctorsville. From the roadside, you’ll see the
historic “glimmer stone” structures built with
locally mined granite and a natural abundance
of mica that glistens in the sun.
OFF THE BEATEN PATH
The towns are home to an award-winning
historic bed and breakfast, general store,
and a highly acclaimed resort and spa.
