A SENSE OF HISTORY
Chester’s Stone Village Historic District is one
of a kind, with its stone buildings dating back
to the first half of the nineteenth century. The
handcrafted masonry of these buildings is
rare in the United States, making the 13 stone
buildings in the Stone Village of Chester unique.
The Village Green is where people come to
admire all that Chester has to offer. The green
is lined with shops, Victorian homes, and inns,
making Chester the charming town that it is. The
Stone Village and the Village Green have been
listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
FAMILY FUN
Chester has a lot to offer when it comes to
family activities. The Pinnacle on Lover’s Lane
Road is where the pool is located, along with
a pavilion, tennis court, basketball court, skate
park, disc golf course, and hiking trails. In the
winter, the Pinnacle offers sledding, skating,
snowmobiling, and cross-country skiing. Check
out the information booth on Main Street, across
from the Village Green, for an abundance of
information, including maps of the local hiking
trails, the latest newsletter, the walking tour
map of Main Street, and much more.
ART AND ANTIQUES
Rated the number-one town in Vermont for
antiques, Chester has numerous places to shop
for old treasures. The art galleries offer exquisite
collections of fine art, and the artisan shops
are filled with handmade jewelry, furniture,
and knickknacks – things you will only find
in Chester.
