My Clearwater
Fire Boat 44
The Clearwater Fire & Rescue Department has a new
way to serve Clearwater residents – either on water
or on land. Fire Boat 44 was delivered earlier this
year and fire crews have been undergoing training
on the vessel, which is docked behind the Clearwater Police
Department’s substation on Clearwater Beach.
The 36-foot boat is one-of-a-kind for Pinellas County and
offers improved service and capabilities for the agency. It
is much larger than its predecessor and offers a large dive
platform on the rear for improved rescue and retrieval.
Multiple patients could be brought on board and treated and
then transported to land.
The boat is not just a helpful tool on the water, but also on
fires that might break out on shore. Its water guns can shoot
water as far as 200 feet and pump 3,000 gallons per minute.
