PRAYER and meditation
APPLICATION
Prayer and meditation is a vital
component of our faith journey. If done
with intentionality, it can become a very
powerful and enjoyable rhythm that
will draw us closer to the heart of God.
Spending time in God’s presence may not
come naturally for some of us. We tend to
favor the satisfaction of checking an item
off the to-do list over sitting quietly with no
distractions. But the Bible teaches us over
and over again to BE STILL; to take the
time to listen for God’s voice. Our tendency
to fill the silence is the very reason that we
need to be intentional about partnering
prayer with meditation. If we only spend
time talking to God, it is virtually impossible
to hear from Him. Meditation helps us block
out the noise of life, to quiet our minds and
focus on what is truly important, knowing
God better. The purpose of meditation is to
create space for our minds to think about
God and to listen for His voice.

calming your spirit. Sit with your favorite
Bible verse for those five minutes to
practice meditating.
