Candidly, we struggle with
the exact same issues today.
If Paul came to check in on
our churches, what would
he say? I think he would say
the exact same thing he
told the Christian Church
2,000 years ago. He’d tell
us to stop making our faith
about anything other than
Jesus, and he’d tell us to
stop focusing on our smaller
differences and work together
as one team under one
Leader: Jesus Christ. In 1
Corinthians 1:10, Paul said,
“I APPEAL TO YOU,
BROTHERS AND SISTERS,
IN THE NAME OF OUR
LORD JESUS CHRIST,
THAT ALL OF YOU AGREE
WITH ONE ANOTHER
IN WHAT YOU SAY
AND THAT THERE BE
NO DIVISIONS AMONG
YOU, BUT THAT YOU BE
PERFECTLY UNITED IN
MIND AND THOUGHT.”
The pursuit of unity among
the body of Christ and our
sacrificial love towards one
another may be two of the
most important callings we
have as Christians. I would
ask you to consider how we,
as believers, can duplicate
the heart of sacrificial love
we show on mission trips
back in our own communities
and churches. Every single
community in the world
needs Jesus. Every single
community in the world needs
people to love and serve
their neighbors. Every single
community needs you and
me to be the Church, not just
on our mission trips, but at
home as well. There is a giant
mission field right outside our
front door. I challenge you to
pick up the mantle that Paul
carried by seeking to help
others know the gift of God’s
grace and to seek to unite
your fellow followers of Christ.
If we do that, truly amazing
things will happen.
God bless you!
