SAMPLE BIBLE STUDY
SCRIPTURE
“Above all, love each other
deeply, because love covers
over a multitude of sins. Offer
hospitality to one another
without grumbling. Each of
you should use whatever gift
you have received to serve
others, as faithful stewards
of God’s grace in its various
forms.” 1 Peter 4:8-10, NIV
APPLICATION
The Message version of this
scripture says, “Love makes
up for practically anything.”
(v. 8) If you think about it,
God showed us just how
powerful love can be when
He sent Jesus to the cross to
die for the sins of all mankind.
That’s a crazy amount of love!
Have you ever felt love like
that? Have you felt the kind of
love that says no matter what
happens, someone’s got your
back through thick and thin?
It feels good to know you’re
not alone in life. It feels good
to know that if you get into a
bind or make a few mistakes
in life, someone will be there,
by your side, walking through
it with you. I think that’s what
God is getting at with this
portion of scripture.
We’ve each been created with
unique gifts, but there is a
purpose behind these gifts.
Sometimes we feel like we
deserve something. We feel
like we deserve to pursue our
passions and develop our
gifts as much as possible,
then enjoy the benefits that
come our way. It’s important
to remember that we didn’t
earn these gifts. They’re
woven into our being by God
himself. I think this passage
is reminding us that our
greatest gift is love, and all
our other gifts are the tools
at our disposal to show love
to those around us. What are
some ways in which you are
capable of using your gifts
to show the love of God to
other people?
