Outlaw Gypsy
Standing room only! That’s what I encountered when I caught up with Outlaw Gypsy at Doc’s Bar this past April. This band delivers hit after hit of some
of Rock’s most iconic songs, time and time again. Every time I see this band it really turns into an event. From Juice Newton to Prince, Heart to Led
Zeppelin, this band packs a punch and knows how to keep the crowd happy and shaking their bootys all night long.
Lead vocalist Jen Hinton’s commanding vocals keeps the fans at attention, grinning from ear to ear. I mean, who doesn’t like a chick that can rock?
She could pass as one of the Wilson sisters from Heart in a second if you ask me. With a music catalogue that spans a vast gamut of rock n’ roll, you
would find it hard to believe this band has only been together for about four years. Backed by Randy Powell on Lead Guitar, Laird Robinson on Bass
and Vocals, and Doug Spinks on Drums, this band is tight and you wouldn’t believe they only play a couple of dates a month.
Originally from Buffalo, New York, and relocating to Savannah from North Carolina about 13 years ago, Jen has been in several bands over the years
and you can tell by her energetic, no holds barred performances, that music is in her blood. So humble and thankful that people follow them from bar
to bar to catch their shows, you can really tell that this group more than enjoys what they are doing.
You can catch the band at several different locations in Savannah in the next month or so, May 4th at Islands Sports Bar on Wilmington Island, May
17th at Molly MacPherson’s in Pooler and June 1st back at Doc’s Bar on Tybee Island. You can also find them on Facebook at @outlawgypsyband. If you
haven’t had a chance to catch these cats live yet, then I highly recommend making it a priority, you will be more than glad you did!
