is good! Naturally, I also had to ask what he was going to wear on the float.
He refused to tell me, but I bet a doo rag will be a part of the outfit!
Beach Bum Queen, Tess Winchester
The Queen was last and not least, and if you have ever stepped a toe inside
Benny’s Tavern, you know this lady. Tess Winchester is a great addition to
the legacy of Beach Bum Court. You can find this classy lady at the American
Legion now, where she has finally found her life in a fresh restart. Add on being
asked for this prestigious title is icing on the cake and Tess couldn’t be more
flattered and honored. Tess says she really wouldn’t be here today without the
help of a few special people: Henry and Kim Schroder and Merrian Johnson.
Here is a shout-out to those good people. When I asked Tess what she was
going to wear in the parade, she said it’s a secret! What’s up with all of these
secrets? We will all have to wait and see!
Now that you have the scoop it’s time! The Coronation is going to be held
at The Deck on Wednesday, May 8th at 6:30pm. If you have never been to a
Coronation, put it on your calendar. All of anyone Tybee is there, along with all
of the preceding Court that is able to make an appearance. The music is live,
the drinks are flowing and the food is fab! Speeches are made and tears are
shed in happiness.
The actual Beach Bum Parade itself is Friday, May 17th at 6:30pm. It will be
starting on the north end and ending down front on Strand past Fannie’s. It
is going to be a blast and is always a great way to kick off a Tybee summer.
Don’t forget there are rules and regulations to follow and we have our list in
this magazine somewhere, so don’t be one of those people that ruin a good
time for everyone by doing something stupid.
A huge thank you to everyone that helped put this crazy photo shoot
together! Kim Trammell and Renee DeRossett with the Tybee Arts Association
for the tuxedo and advice. To Wen McNally for terrific pictures and floatie
coordination. To TS Chu for the water guns. To Johnnie and Cheryl Kerby for
floatie donation. To Charissa Murray for floatie donation. To Turner Horton for
floatie donation. To Jenny Rountree at Tybee Time for allowing us to use the
bar as our office/meeting place/let’s do some shots place. To Jimmy Prosser
for going back to my car for that damn cummerbund. To Jeremy Riddle for
manual labor. To Mac McLellan for not punching me in the face over blowing
up those floaties.
Let the games begin, y’all!!! See you there!
