Moxxie: Foundation (Asheville) is a great example of the skate
community coming together. When the new owner of RAD
embraced them, it was unbelievable to see how almost overnight,
the park started to transform. I worked in one of the neighboring
buildings at the time, and saw more kids out there on a daily basis,
working so hard to build the park into what it is today. They continue
to build on it, which is cool. It’s a beautiful masterpiece and
testament to the skate community and who it is made up of. You
don’t see traditional sports teams putting stuff like that together,
because it’s already there. You know?

“The journey of a
thousand smiles begins
with a single push...”
Jared: Think about how much closer it’s brought that community
because they worked to build it together. You really get to know
people and they now have a sense of ownership. Is that not what
every function in our society wants from its citizens? We should
celebrate that.
Moxxie: If you had one final thing to say to kids of America and
to Haywood County, what would that be?
Jared: Well, the “journey of a thousand smiles begins with a single
push,” for all you skateboarders out there. Haywood County, I
traveled all over. This is truly an amazing area for so many reasons,
and I encourage all of us to make Waynesville rad and to keep
working towards that goal.
Editor’s Note: At the time of print, Jared just received approval
to host a summer skate camp! Contact him directly at
bigbrotherboardscamp@gmail.com for more info. You can also
find Big Brother Boards Camp on Facebook and Instagram.
Congratulations, Jared!
