Spring has Sprung! I just love this time of the year, especially
here in the mountains of Western North Carolina, where every
day is like looking at a little piece of heaven!
This is the time of year where all things are made new again.
The greening up of the mountains, the new flowers, the greener
grass, and of course, the new baby birds singing a new song.
It truly makes you just want to be apart of the festivities somehow,
and bring that new, clean feeling in and around your
home.
When freshening up your home for this time of the year, here
are a few tips for making your living space feel crisp, clean,
and new.
First, there is no better way to bring the beauty of the outdoors
inside than opening up those curtains and giving those
windows a good cleaning. If you take some time to do this,
you will be pleasantly surprised at how something so small
can make such a big difference! Then open those windows and
let the fresh mountain air in, which will give you the added
blessing of hearing the birds sing and the trees sway.
Second, make a change with your furniture. No, I don’t mean
go out and buy some new furniture, but rather to rearrange
it! Some of us have had a sofa in the same spot for 20 years! If
rearranging is not your thing, consider buying a new rug for
under the coffee table, and change the pillows on the sofa
to something more fit for the current season. You can find
things to brighten up your living space at tremendous discounts
at any of our towns’ wonderful consignment shops.
Another way to spruce up your home is to bring in some
fresh cut flowers. Whether you grow them yourself or buy
them at the local grocery store, nothing says “springtime”
quite like a floral arrangement on the table.
Last but not least, you can tidy up your yard by laying some
fresh mulch in your flower beds. This is an inexpensive
way to add color to your front yard, especially against your
newly grown green grass. This will give your home a fresh,
clean look. Should you have any leftover mulch, be sure to
share it with a neighbor who maybe cannot get out and do
these types of things for themselves anymore.
More than anything else, take a deep breath, and be grateful
for this beautiful season!
Until later, love one another.
