Exemption applications must be filed with the Property Appraiser by
March 1. To qualify, an owner must have permanently resided on the
property on January 1 of the year for which the application is made.
Applications for the Homestead Exemption may be pre-filed on or after
March 2 of the year preceding the year for which you are applying.
There is also a tangible personal property tax levied on furniture and
equipment utilized in businesses and rental properties. An exemption
of up to $25,000 is available for tangible personal property. Annual
returns must be filed with the Property Appraiser’s Office by April 1,

An intangible personal property tax is divided into two classifications
as follows:
(1) An annual tax of one-mill on just valuation as of January 1 of
all taxable intangible personal property (for example, stocks, bonds,
notes, accounts receivable).
(2) Nonrecurring two-mill intangible tax on the just valuation of
notes, bonds and other obligations to pay money which are secured
by a mortgage, deed of trust or other lien on real property in Florida.
