THE PUNTA GORDA AIRPORT (PGD) offer commercial airline
service and general aviation services. Visit www.flypgd.com for
destination sand airline information. The airport is owned and
operated by the Charlotte County Airport Authority. The airport
facilities include the Airline Terminal, restaurant, pilots’ lounge,
FedEx, Charlotte County Sheriff ’s Office and a host of businesses
in the Commerce Park. There are several sites for lease. There is an
air traffic control tower, an Automated Surface Weather Observation
System, three runways and Jet A fuel and 100LL Avgas fuels. Major
and minor repair companies, avionics, flight schools, charter service
and an air ambulance are also located on the airport. The Authority
has large and small hangars for lease equipped with electric doors.
The Punta Gorda Airport is easily accessible by I-75 exit 161 or

SOUTHWEST FLORIDA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT is located
in Lee County, to the south, less than one hour’s drive from Charlotte
County. Major airlines offer full service in and out of the airport.
From Charlotte County, the airport can be reached by taking I-75
south to exit 131, or by taking U.S. 41 south through Ft. Myers,
turning east on Daniels Road.
SARASOTA AIRPORT offers major airline service, just one hour’s
drive to the north. The airport is located between U.S. 41 and U.S.
301 in north Sarasota County. It can be reached from I-75 by taking
exit 213, University Parkway in Bradenton.
MAJOR ROADWAYS
The county is easily accessed by auto via U.S.41, which traverses
the county north and south; by U.S. 17 which enters the county
from the east; and by Interstate 75, which has six interchanges in
Charlotte County. Bus service is provided to Port Charlotte by
