When I moved to Haywood County in June of 2010, I had my mom
and daughter in tow. We moved here on faith, and faith alone. We
moved here without jobs or housing in place. Friends told me that
I was crazy and that I wouldn’t make it. It was a test of my faith as
well as a conviction of my faith all in one jump. And to this day, it has
been the best decision I have made for myself and for my daughter.
I’ve always been a wild child, untamable and unafraid. When I hear
the word “can’t,” a fire literally ignites in my stomach and sets
me off to work harder to prove that I can. These characteristics,
among others, set me on a career path early. My entire professional
background stems from being in the sales and marketing industry.
From the time I was 17 years old, I have been out “in the field,” (as
they say), selling…something: from real estate, cell phones and
insurance, to artwork, websites, newspaper ads, digital products, etc.
As I got older and continued my career in this industry, I came to realize that I was not a good “fit” for corporate America.
I didn’t last long with any one company, because I wasn’t willing or able to conform to their corporate bullshit requirements
and unrealistic goals and expectations. The constant pressures of being in the sales world can often be aligned with professional
bullying, and I was never good at being talked down to or made to feel less than anyone. I also realized that I knew a lot more
than the people that were above me, and there are better ways to help small and medium sized businesses market themselves.
After of working for the corporate devils, the Universe literally pushed me off another cliff and forced me to learn how to fly,
on my own. During this free fall, Moxxie Marketing was born.
Hi everyone, my name is Jennifer Allen. I was born and raised in McDowell County but moved to Haywood 24 years ago. I raised
my beautiful daughter, Jessica Allen, in Canton. I have one dog, Romeo, who is Moxxie’s office pet! He is almost 14 and just loves
coming to work with me and meeting new people. I also have two pet pigs, Petunia and Peggy. It is not unusual at all for me to
go from high heels to muddy boots when needed. My pet pigs can get an attitude at times, just like we all do, but they make for
good pets with proper care.
