Happy Fall ya’ll!
Oh, how I LOVE this time of year. And so do all of the
“leafers” that will be descending on us over the next several
weeks. I know this because I used to be one of them.
Yes, it’s true. I used to be one of the many people who
dreamed about coming to Waynesville. I always looked
forward to the time of year when my family and I would get
to visit Waynesville and Maggie Valley, and it was always in
the fall. There isn’t any other place in the world quite like
Western North Carolina this time of year.
If you’ve never lived anywhere but here, you might not know
this, but a lot of people buy their Fall… in a bag. I remember
when we lived in Florida, I would go to the nearest craft store
and buy fall leaves and sprinkle them around my house as
decoration. Now, every day, I excitedly open my curtains to
see the changes. I love waking up in the morning and feeling
the crisp fall air on my skin and in my hair. And oh… the smell
of fall is like magic. It’s all the sensations that indicate change
is coming and it is such a beautiful gift to receive every year.
We are truly blessed to live in a place where we can witness
God’s amazingness and His breathtaking creations. We can
literally watch the earth come to life in the spring after a
sleepy winter and then grow and be rich in the summer
with a final burst of color and coolness in the fall before it
falls back to sleep. To be able to witness the harvest and the
natural décor of the mountains, munching on fresh apples,
carving pumpkins and sipping cider… it is truly God’s blessing
to us for simply just living where we live.
It is this time of year, more than any other, that God declares
Himself thru His creations. Psalm 19:1-6
My prayer is that we would take the time to notice what He
has done and to thank Him for the blessings of having a front
row seat to His creations this fall, as well as every day.
Until next time love one another… John 3:18
