In a public statement praising the Board’s decision, the
ZOA expressed its intention to review the next draft of
the model curriculum “which we hope and expect will
provide California students with an accurate, balanced
and scholarly understanding of Jews and other ethnic
groups.”
Ongoing Educational Efforts
Susan Tuchman, director of the ZOA’s Center for Law and Justice, spoke to community members
about the ZOA’s fight against anti-Semitism in our schools and on college campuses, at various
parlor meetings in 2019 that were generously hosted by the following ZOA supporters: Dan and
Staci Layish in Orlando, FL (February), David and Laura Eisenberg in Brookline, MA (March),
Jacob and Lauren Polyeff in West Orange, NJ (April), Susan and Allen Friedman in Wayland, MA
(April), and Isaac Winer and Dr. Bonnie Rosenberg in Palo Alto, CA (June).
In May, Susan and Deborah Peretz, ZOA’s Long Island regional director and NY Metro associate
director, spoke at a program graciously organized by Baila Sebrow and hosted by J. Greenstein &
Company, Inc. in Cedarhurst, NY.
In June, Susan and ZOA’s West Coast Regional Director David Kadosh briefed California lawmakers
on campus anti-Semitism and recommended several steps to battle this ugly problem. The
briefing, at the State Capitol in Sacramento, was sponsored by Assemblymember Kevin Kiley.
In August, Susan and Alan Jay, director of the ZOA’s NY Metro Region, were guest speakers at the
Leadership Program for high school and college staff at Camp Moshava Ba’Ir, located on the Frisch
School’s campus in Paramus, NJ.
