ORRA members scoop up the swag
Annual REALTOR® Expo attendees, exhibitors win VISA cards and more
ORRA members were, like, totally stoked to be at our 80’s themed 2019 REALTOR®
Expo (see photos on page 20-21 and all the pix on orlandorealtors.org/gallery). They
enjoyed networking with vendors who lined the tradeshow floor; watched as famed
local newswoman Jackie Brockington moderated a political debate between two
heavyweight national pundits; listened in as Josh Altman, star of “Million Dollar Listing
Los Angeles,” regaled with the tale of his rise to success; and chowed down on food
and drink; they brought home the bucks! Plus, five members were drawn from a hat to
receive VISA gift cards starting at $100 and progressing up to $500.
Even the ORRA affiliate members who displayed their products and services were
treated to a prize courtesy of the association. Champion Title & Closing won the event’s
coveted “Best Booth” award and is the recipient of a complimentary half-page ad in a
2020 issue of Orlando REALTOR® magazine. (Kudos to Addition Financial and Celebration
Title Group for their second-place tie.)
NAR issues new
MLS rule change
To address a growing use of off-
MLS listings, the National Association
of REALTORS® has approved a rule
stating that listings must be submitted
to the MLS within one business
day after first marketing them to the
public. All MLSs must adopt the policy
before a May 1, 2020, deadline.
MLS Statement 8.0, NAR Handbook
on Multiple Listing Policy now reads:
Within one (1) business day of
marketing a property to the public,
the listing broker must submit the
listing to the MLS for cooperation
with other MLS participants. Public
marketing includes, but is not limited
to, flyers displayed in windows, yard
signs, digital marketing on public
facing websites, brokerage website
displays (including IDX and VOW),
digital communications marketing
(email blasts), multi-brokerage listing
sharing networks, and applications
available to the general public.
Rationale: Distribution of listing
information and cooperation among
MLS participants is pro-competitive
and pro-consumer. By joining an MLS,
participants agree to cooperate with
other MLS participants except when
such cooperation is not in their client's
interests. This policy is intended
to bolster cooperation and advance
the positive, procompetitive impacts
that cooperation fosters for consumers.
The public marketing of a listing
indicates that the MLS Participant has
concluded that cooperation with other
MLS participants is in their client’s
interests.
FAQs, video, and additional
resources about the new policy
are available on the NAR website
at nar.realtor/about-nar/policies/
