Our Community
With a population that exceeds 77,000, our median age is a relatively young 46. This adds a vibrancy and
vitality to our community. We have over 40 places of worship in North Port, many of which are listed in
this guide. The North Port Library and Shannon Staub Library are full-service facilities. The arts flourish
in North Port, anchored by our state-of-the-art North Port Performing Arts Center, located at North
Port High School. In 2007, in a partnership with the City, the North Port Art Center opened the doors
to its facility located at the corner of North Port Boulevard and Sam Shapos Way. Some of the annual
events that are held throughout the city include various Chamber events, Fourth of July Freedom Festival,
Trick-or-Treat at City Hall, the Poinsettia Parade and the Tree Lighting & Poinsettia Festival. Golf is
enjoyed all year long at any one of our great golf courses.
