911 Communications
Provides 24 hour, 365 day 911 call dispatch services to
the citizens of Stanly County with prompt and courteous
assistance to those callers on both the 911 emergency
and non-emergency phone lines. Major projects for
• The County’s 5th emergency radio communications
tower adjacent to the Eastside Volunteer Fire Department on NC 24/27/73
responders in areas east of Stony Gap Road.
• Fire dispatch protocols were reviewed and overhauled to update existing
codes, response plans and dispatch methods.
• Radio location services technology via GPS was fully implemented
telecommunicators.
• In 2020, 911 processed 126,469 calls for service, this represents a 7%
decrease over 2019. The State of North Carolina requires all 911 centers
to answer at least 90% of all 911 calls within 10 seconds. Stanly County
Communications answered 99.16% of all 911 calls within 10 seconds.

Emergency Medical Services continues to adapt and grow with the changing
pre-hospital medical practices.
