Planning & Zoning The Planning Department works with landowners and developers to permit the best
uses of property throughout the county. Consistent with the 2010 Land Use Plan or
areas with infrastructure in place to support new development.
Staff coordinated nine (9) rezoning or text change requests through the Planning
Board, two (2) special use permits, one (1) request for a variance with the Board of
Adjustment and one (1) request for Administrative Relief from setback and similar
zoning requirements.
• Issued Zoning Compliance Permits for the municipalities of Albemarle,
Misenheimer, Red Cross, New London, Badin and Norwood.
• Enforced the Zoning Ordinance and Minimum Housing Code for the municipalities
