Hospice’s Pop-Up
Boutique
GRAM
Kathy Wilder, the presenting sponsor of the
daytime shopping benefit for Empath Health
and its Suncoast Hospice, and Susan Brown,
a longtime supporter and former Suncoast
Hospice board member, enjoyed visiting with
friends and shoppers during the Pop-Up
Boutique benefit.
This year, Empath Health and its Suncoast
Hospice replaced the nonprofit’s annual
luncheon, boutique and staged runway
fashion show fundraiser with a unique
and safe shopping experience. The largest
ballroom at Innisbrook in Palm Harbor,
which Suncoast Hospice normally fills
with luncheon tables and a fashion show
runway, was overflowing with wellorganized
racks of the very best donated
fashions, accessories and home decor from
the three Suncoast Hospice Resale Shops.
Participating shoppers/supporters were
safely limited by number and arrival times.
The successful fundraiser, presented by the
Wilder family, will help Empath Health
and its member programs continue to
offer its mission of care that has served
our community for more than 40 years.

Artist
Susanne
Nielson was
celebrated at
the opening
reception
of her
paintings for
the “Women
of the Berlin
Wall”
exhibit at
Citrus Park
Mall in
Tampa.
Women of the Berlin Wall
Tampa artist Susanne Nielsen’s “Women of the Berlin Wall”
exhibit featured a dozen 6-feet by 2-feet acrylic paintings she
created of her mother’s fashion creations from the 1950s. Her
mother, now 91, fled Berlin with her family on April 18, 1945,
three days before the area’s Russian occupation. In the paintings,
the artist’s mother is wearing designs of elegant, hand-sewn
dresses she created from recycled curtains and dress linings.
Nielsen’s paintings were displayed during the summer as part
of the Outdoor Arts Foundation’s “Berlin Wall” exhibition at
Freedom Pavilion inside Citrus Park Mall in Tampa.
Caladesi Island Ferry
The television show World’s Greatest featured the Caladesi Island Ferry, which
has been providing service to hidden gem Caladesi Island from Honeymoon
Island in Dunedin since 1983. The ferry carries more than 74,000 passengers each
year, connecting the two islands for visitors. The half-hour TV show highlights the
world’s greatest companies, places and people, revealing the story behind each
selection. Janet Henderson, president and CEO of the Caladesi Island Ferry, was
honored that her company was included in the TV series.
