BEYOND SALVADOR DALÍ
Creations by Louis Markoya
By Aaron R. Fodiman
The Virus is the first in a three-painting story arc that captures Louis Markoya’s
observations on the COVID-19 pandemic and its effect on people.
Fifty years ago, the hand of destiny placed a young man from Fairfield, Connecticut
alongside the genius surrealist Salvador Dalí. The man, Louis Markoya, became the
master painter’s protégé for six years in New York City during the 1970s and was
included in the artist’s life of fame and creativity. Markoya learned about lenticular
prints during that time, while assisting Dalí with holograms and other 3D illusions.
