Filming in Pinellas County
Clearwater Bagels is marking its 40th year anniversary this October. Owners
Brian and Cathy Morris met in high school in Great Neck, New York. After
high school, Brian studied business administration at Adelphi University
in New York while working at the Bagel Hut in Great Neck. Cathy attended
secretarial school in New York City. Upon graduation, they were married
in 1979. Brian continued to learn his bagel baking trade for two more years,
while Cathy worked as an executive secretary in New York City. In August
1981, they moved to Clearwater and signed a lease at their present location,
1871 Gulf to Bay Blvd. in Clearwater. They opened their doors for business on
Saturday, October 28, 1981. Brian and Cathy’s formula for success is baking
authentic fresh bagels using a time-tested 75-year-old recipe of always boiling
their bagels, baking them in the oven on a stone surface and baking fresh
bagels every day, which they’ve done for the last 40 years.
Clearwater Bagels offers 13 varieties of bagels. Their 10 varieties of cream
cheese spreads are homemade. They also offer bagel dogs, Nova lox, pastrami
and Eggels on a bagel. Their hot coffee is roasted on the premises, and they
grind the beans fresh daily. Their old-fashioned homemade rugalach is made
on the premises daily. Clearwater Bagels is located at 1871 Gulf to Bay Blvd.
