Stars and
Stripes USO
Show
The fourth annual Stars and Stripes USO
Show was held at the St. Petersburg
Coliseum as a benefit for the Armed
Forces History Museum in Largo. This
salute to our troops featured the G.I.
Jive Big Band, dancing and vintage era
performances. The Museum is dedicated
to preserving our military history and
educating the public. It houses one
of the largest collections of military
memorabilia, equipment and vehicles in
the state of Florida.

2015 Dunedin History Makers
Kathy Carlson, one of the owners of
downtown Dunedin’s Kelly’s for Just
About ... Anything! restaurant and
lounge, as well as the nightclub Blur,
was recognized, along with attorney Eric
Houghton, who is an active leader in his
church, local schools and the Dunedin
Historical Museum, as the newest Dunedin
History Makers by the Dunedin Historical
Society. They both have been instrumental
in downtown Dunedin’s and the
community’s overall success. Rika Freeman
chaired this year’s Dunedin History Maker
Award committee.
Sherrill Milnes and Maria Zouves
began their V.O.I.C.Experience
Foundation to help operatic singers
develop their careers and cultivate
their talent. These training programs
are held in New York, Chicago and
Florida. The programs were then
extended in 2012 into Georgia, as
part of the Savannah Voice Festival,
where the couple recently presented
a new work, Alice Ryley: a Savannah
Ghost Story told through opera. They
raise funds to support these efforts
through their nonprofit Foundation.

downtown Clearwater’s Historic Fort Harrison Hotel. This year’s

Clearwater’s Winter Wonderland. Celebrity models and community
leaders paraded the runway wearing fashions from Nikki’s Glitz and
Glam Boutique in Palm Harbor and Ambria’s Gallery of Wearable
Art in St. Petersburg.
Pat Harney, on behalf of the Church of Scientology, welcomed guests to this
year’s Fashions With Flair Luncheon that was held at the Historic Fort Harrison
Hotel in Clearwater and introduced Joanie Sigal as the show’s chair.
Sally Burks and her husband Enos, director of
plant operations for the Armed Forces History
Museum, enjoyed this unique fundraiser that
honored our veterans.
