Manual Lymphatic Drainage is
used to remove cellular debris
caused by trauma or surgery,
and is especially effective for dealing with
discomfort or swelling after surgery and
joint replacements. The lymphatic system
of tissues, vessels and organs works
together to move a colorless, watery fluid
called lymph back into your circulatory
system through your bloodstream. Some 20
liters of plasma flow through your body’s
arteries and smaller arteriole blood vessels
and capillaries every day. After delivering
nutrients to the body’s cells and tissues
and receiving their waste products, about
17 liters are returned to the circulation by
way of veins. The remaining three liters
seep through the capillaries and into your
body’s tissues. When the lymphatic system
is slow and sluggish, one can suffer with
aches, pains and low energy.
Lymph Drainage Massage can stimulate
the opening of the lymphatic one-way
valves and increases the volume of lymph
that returns to the circulation system. The
gentle technique does not disrupt the body
repair process after surgery and enhances
the body’s ability to heal from surgery,
tummy tucks and liposuction. Traumatized
tissues and scars can interrupt the lymph
flow and can cause reduced healing, fibrosis
scar tissue, dimpling and uneven skin.
Poor lymph flow after surgery can cause
the development of fluid pockets. Manual
Lymphatic Drainage and massage can speed
recovery and improve the results.
