Wigs for Kids
LaPosh Salon, an affiliate of the
national nonprofit Wigs for Kids
program that gives free custommade
hairpieces to children with hair
loss to help them look and feel like
themselves again, is having a Cut-athon
benefit on June 19th. The event is
personal, since it will honor and assist
LaPosh stylist Amber Wahlberg’s
daughter Desirae, who suffers from
Alopecia. The goal is to raise $10,000
to supply wigs for five children. You
are invited to donate your hair for
wigs if it is 12 inches or longer with
a pre-appointment, or have a hair or
makeup service and enjoy food, raffles
and an auction, while donating to a
very worthwhile cause. LaPosh Salon
is at 2566 N. McMullen Booth Road in
Clearwater, (727) 726-1600.

Mosaics at
Museum of Fine Arts
On display at the Museum of Fine Arts,
St. Petersburg is “Antioch Reclaimed: Ancient
Mosaics at the MFA.” It tells the riveting
excavation story of the ancient city of Antioch
and the archaeological dig in northern Syria by
Princeton University in the 1930s that led to
the museum acquiring five beautifully detailed
mosaic pavements that were discovered during
the excavation. The restored works are on display
along with rare marble sculptures from Antioch
that are on loan from the Princeton University
Art Museum. There are also historical documents,
artifacts, photographs and a documentary
film from the Princeton Archives about this
Greco-Roman city. The exhibit continues until
August 22nd.
This photo in the “Antioch Reclaimed” exhibit shows the building excavated down
to the mosaic level.
