The Art of Birds
Photographer Jim Miller has
captured the beauty of Florida
birds in their natural habitats
by photographing them while
they are flying, feeding and even
courting. His images of these
amazing creatures of nature are
described by quotes from early
naturalists and ornithologists
such as John Audubon and Arthur
Bent to accompany portraits of
species that have developed over
the years through adaptation and
selection. The book is published
by University Press of Florida,
upf.com, and also can be ordered
at (800) 226-3822.

Ferman Center
for the Arts
The University of Tampa’s new Ferman Center for the Arts
has opened for the students from the College of Arts and Letters.
Dean David Gudelunas is looking forward to opening this grand
facility for film screenings, lectures, dance concerts, musical
performances, art exhibits and other activities. He hopes every
student at the university will have a reason to visit the center,
which is named in honor of Celia and Jim Ferman, the lead
donors of the university’s capital campaign to build the fourstory
structure on North Boulevard in Tampa.

taste, but even if you are not
a gin drinker, Four Peel Gin
from Watershed Distillery may
convert you with its bright, crisp,
citrus, floral taste. This botanical
mix is distilled American style
and works well in martinis, in a
gin and tonic, or just mixed with
lemonade and called a Collins.
