PARC’s Black Tie Ball
La Segunda
Bakery
Juan Morè, a Spanish soldier stationed
in Cuba during the Spanish-American War,
came across a unique Cuban bread recipe.
After the War in 1915, he moved to Tampa
and opened La Segunda Central Bakery. Now,
101 years later, the bakery is still flourishing
under the leadership of the same family. With
Juan’s grandson Anthony Morè Jr. and his
son Copeland Morè running it, La Segunda
offers a variety of traditional Cuban pastries,
bittersweet café con leche, and gourmet
sandwiches, in addition to its famous bread.
Located at 2512 N. 15th Street in Ybor City,
it is the place to go for an authentic Cuban
sandwich or a pastellito de guava.
Festival of Trees
The Arc Tampa Bay Foundation’s annual Festival of Trees will be held
November 18th through the 20th at the Long Center in Clearwater. Melody
and Jerry Figurski will serve as honorary chairs of the November 18th Premiere
Night. Guests can stroll through paths lined with over a hundred trees and
wreathes during this family-friendly wonderland of entertainment and holiday
bliss. Available for purchase, all items have been decorated by local artists and
volunteers in a wide variety of themes and sizes. The entire proceeds of sales
benefit the Foundation. For tickets to Premiere Night or the Festival, or to become
a sponsor, vendor or to decorate a tree, call (727) 797-8712. 9
