Farms around Lodi, California, have been producing wine grapes for more
than 100 years for producers of fine wines in other areas such as Napa
and Sonoma. However, the Lodi growers recently decided to use Lodi
grapes to produce their own high-quality wines. This has led to Lodi
becoming one of California’s largest appellations with more than 100,000 acres
of vines under more than 750 growers and more than 85 boutique wineries
that specialize in small-lot wines. Wine Enthusiast Magazine named Lodi the
2015 Wine Region of the Year.
