The End
of the Day

your “day” is actually over. It’s that subtle little
sound that your lock makes after you enter your
home after the long day you just endured. You don’t think
anything of it but when you hear that click…..it sounds
like freedom. For some of us it may sound like the payoff
for years of hard work, for others just a subtle resolution
of making it through another day on our path to greater
things. Click…..It’s not just the end of the day, but also
the beginning of something else. It’s your world now, the
one you created, its manifestations of your own personal
production.
Click…..it says turn around, there is something here for
you. Maybe it’s that comfy chair in the corner waiting
for you to gently ease into its already pre-determined
indentation designed by you. Maybe it’s a child or children
running up to you, arms open to tell you about their day
while you’re still trying to remove your jacket. It may be
your spouse who may be equally exhausted from the day’s
design, waiting for you to occupy the space next to him or
her for dinner. You may live alone, but the click……..has
no less meaning. It could be your dog or cat waiting not
so patiently for your return, its relief at your arrival at the
expected moment to grab its chin and begin the ritual of
following you around. Maybe it’s just the simple command
of the remote control as you graze through the channels in
solitude cradling a bowl of soup you picked up at Panera on
your way home.
We are all on a journey, both long and short and at the
end of the day we all end up in the same place…..Home.
Whether you have already accomplished the “American
Dream” of home ownership or are still on your way there,
the click…..is the same. And it doesn’t matter how you
arrived whether it be Mercedes Benz, or Toyota Corolla it is
no different. Whether the front door is French and twelve
feet tall or just a simple 8 foot door to your apartment,
click……. gives you the same direction. Look around and
see what you have done, because you have accomplished
something and that something matters.
So before you lay your head down into that pillow you
know so well and start to think about the next day…..
stop and think about the experience you just had in your
own space. Remember you are coming back, right back
here where you are the owner and developer of your own
experience. And then and only then you can reach over and
grab that lamp switch and turn out the light…….Click.
