Blake’s New CEO Randy Currin Dives Right Into Serving Manatee County

He may have just moved to Manatee County last
November, but Randy Currin has wasted no time when
it comes to serving his new community. Not only did
he hit the ground running as the latest Chief Executive Ofcer
(CEO) of Blake Medical Center, but he also dove right into local
volunteer work.
His rst volunteer stop? Happy Cubs Preschool, where Currin
spent time reading to local children to promote early literacy. “We
had the opportunity to go to Happy Cubs, and Annette Larkin
(Owner and Director) gave us her favorite book, Red is Best,”
Currin explains. Currin read the classic Kathy Stinson story to 3
and 4-year-olds in English, while Veronica Thames, VP of Human
Resources for Blake Medical Center, read it to them in Spanish.
“Veronica had the idea to take a bilingual approach, so it was
fun,” Currin recalls. “When I think about what my family and I are
inspired to support, it’s things like early childhood development
and working on developing the next generation of leaders for
Manatee County and the state of Florida. So, reading to the
Happy Cubs children was certainly something near and dear
to my heart.”
Ringing in Blake’s 45th Anniversary
Currin joined Blake Medical Center just in time to celebrate an
important milestone for his new employer. “Our organization is
celebrating its 45th anniversary this year,” he points out. “Blake
has evolved over the years from its inception as a community
